My name is Clarissa Mansfield and I established Polygonia Communications to expand and build upon my personal and professional experience working in communications, consulting, writing, and creating. On this site you will find examples of my writing, information about the work that I do, and my own personal thoughts and ideas about communications.

My subject areas of specialized interest and experience include: higher education, academic libraries, media literacy, disability justice, environmental education, human rights, anti-imperialism, community-building, justice and advocacy, and veganism.

I offer writing, editing, reviewing, communications, and consultation services as a professional with over two decades of content creation, management, research, writing, and editing experience, with a career background in communications, academic libraries, and higher education. I am a writer and communicator driven by a commitment to advocacy, justice, and community-building.

*Polygonia is the scientific genus name for anglewing butterflies, which I first mis-red as ‘angelwing’ butterflies, but this, too is fitting. Known for the distinct, jagged angles on the edges of their wings, these special creatures embody both frailty and strength, beauty and hope, power and transformation.

Reading, writing, listening, communicating, and learning are essential and important, and this has guided me both personally and professionally my entire life, and also what has led to the creation of the communities of which I am a part.

Writing and communications offer me the means for living and surviving and in an unjust world, as analysis, reflection, dialogue, and learning can lead to a deepening awareness and commitment to transform this world into one that is rooted in compassion and justice.
